Harold J. Jobse Harold J. Jobse, of Federal Way, WA, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at the age of 93. Harold was born on July 2, 1923 in Grand Rapids, MI. He attended Ottawa Hills High School, and obtained his bachelor's degree at the University of Michigan and a master's degree in civil engineering from the University of Colorado. He fell in love with Ardith Ann Pearson on a blind date and married her on June 17, 1948. She was and is the love of his life. Harold served as a F4U Corsair aircraft carrier pilot in World War II. After the Navy, Harold worked as a civil engineer in the emerging concrete construction industry for several companies including Portland Cement Association and Concrete Technology Laboratories, and was an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers all his life. He was also an active member of the Lutheran church in each state he and Ardith resided in, and was dedicated to supporting his family, friends, and community. Harold was preceded in death by his daughter Cynthia Ann Jobse. Harold is survived by his wife Ardith Ann Jobse, daughter Sharon Mitchell Guddat, son-in-law Jeff Guddat, five grandchildren, Rob, James and John Mitchell, and Jon and Jerrod Guddat, and eleven great-grandchildren. A private family interment occurred at Washington Memorial Cemetery on May 13, 2017. At his request, no memorial service was held. The family is grateful for condolences, but in lieu of flowers would gratefully appreciate donations to the Alzheimer's Association. Harold touched the hearts and lives of many people in his memorable life, particularly during these last few years when he was the caregiver for his wife Ardith, who has Alzheimer's. He loved and cherished every moment with her, and enjoyed the times he had with family and friends. His steadfast dedication to the love of his life touched all of our lives, and we will carry his devotion forward to our family and friends.
