Harold LeRoy Soult92, of Indianapolis, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2017. He was born on March 7, 1925 in Indianapolis to the late LeRoy and Geraldine (Jenkins) Soult.Harold attended Arsenal Tech High School, but left his Junior year to join the U.S. Army. He served as a Private, and was honorably discharged in 1944. During his service he earned several prestigious medals, including the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and CIB - Combat Infantryman's Badge. He was also instrumental in the capture of a General in the Italian Army in the city of Palermo.After his discharge, he married the love of his life, Delilah Markovich.  They lived in Indianapolis where Harold worked for Indianapolis Railway until joining IPD in 1954. During his 20 year service with IPD, he earned the rank of Sergeant, retiring in 1974. During his time with IPD he received 6 commendations for outstanding police work. He was employed as a security officer for St. Vincent Hospital from 1974 - 1977 and worked for the Marion County Sheriff's Department from 1984-1995 in the Civil Office. Harold was a member of the Chapter 52 and the Fraternal Order of Police #86.  He was also an 8 year volunteer driver for the at the Indianapolis VA Medical Center.He is survived by his daughters, Suzanne (William) Jones and Katherine (Joseph) Carroll; 3 grandsons, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Harold is also survived by a special nephew, Jonathan Markovich. He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Delilah Soult; and sister, Barbara Smuda.Visitation for Mr. Soult will be held on Sunday, May 21, 2017 from 2-6 p.m. at Flanner and Buchanan - Memorial Park. Funeral services will take place the following morning at 11 a.m., also in the funeral center. Burial with Military Honors will take place immediately following the service in Memorial Park Cemetery.Memorial contributions are encouraged to the ( ).
