MOTE, Harold Mr. Harold Mote of Druid Hills, passed away December 11, 2016 at the age of 99. Harold was born on September 15, 1917 to the late Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Mote of Acworth, GA. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Norma D. Mote and by his sisters, Vivian Shuman, Hazel Grist, and Sybil Landers, and his brother Selby Mote. Harold was a graduate of North Georgia College, the University Of Georgia School Of Forestry, and the University of Georgia School of Pharmacy. He was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity for Forestry and a charter member of the Rho Chi Professional Pharmaceutical Fraternity, Alpha Kappa Chapter at the University of Georgia. A WWII veteran, he served in the South Pacific and Mediterranean. Lt. Harold Mote was a Navy Pilot on the U.S.S. Birmingham flying scouting and rescue missions. He received many honors including The Navy Air Medal, The Distinguished Flying Cross, and The Purple Heart. After the war, he became a pharmacist and retired from the VA hospital in Atlanta after 20 years of service. He was a member of Druid Hills Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Four Square Sunday School Class. He is survived by a sister, Joyce Brown of Marietta, GA. He is also survived by a daughter, Barbara Mote Threadgill and a son-in-law, Dr. James M. Threadgill of Newnan, GA. Also surviving are three grandchildren, James M. Threadgill, Jr. (Julie), Christine M. Pircsuk (Trevor), and Deborah L. Pearson (Kyle) and eight great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 15, 2016 from 11:00-12:00pm at Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville GA, followed by a graveside service at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta at 2:00 PM.
