Harold William HolbertCOLUMBUS: Harold William Holbert, also known to many as "Pa-Pa" or "Uncle Hero", was born on October 3rd, 1940 to the late William Wesley and Gertie Newman Holbert. He went to be with The Lord on June 27th, 2015.He was educated in the Zanesville Public School System. He enlisted in the
United States Air Force and served in the
Vietnam War. Harold was an avid fisherman and hunter, and was a member of the
VFW Post 0082.Harold is survived by his daughters, Stephanie (Ted) Craiglow of Crosslanes, WV and Windy Holbert of Columbus, OH; granddaughters, Dezeray (Matt Caiati) Holbert of Tampa, FL and Audrey Jones of Columbus, OH; sister, Rachel (Lee) Russell of Columbus, OH; sister-in-law, Phyllis Holbert of Columbus, OH; brother-in-law, James Williams of Zanesville, OH; a host of nieces and nephews; Gene O'Gaston and Rod Jones, whom were like sons; and special friend, Frank Kennedy. He is preceded in death by his brother, Edward Holbert and sister, Thelma Williams. All that knew Harold knew that he was a man of faith, strong willed, and had a lot of courage and compassion for others. Harold was always ready to face the challenges that were placed before him. Family always came first and his granddaughters held his heart. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 from 5:00pm-8:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd. Columbus, OH 43231. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 1:00pm also at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel.
