Harold Woody WoodDec. 20, 1928 - Oct. 26, 2016NORTH LIBERTY - Harold Woody Wood, 87 of North Liberty passed away on Wednesday, October 26th at Memorial Hospital, South Bend.He was born on December 20, 1928 in Saltillo, TN to the late William E. and Audra M. (Conley) Wood. He resided in the Michiana area for 63 years, retiring from the South Bend Tribune in 1988 after 36 years working in the Composing Room and Building Maintenance Department.On November 28, 1952 in Corinth, MS he married Marjorie F. Coursel who survives. Woody is also survived by three daughters, Roseann M. (Herman) Williamson of Rolling Prairie, Sandra J. (John) Szucs and Laurel L. (Mark) Kiszka both of North Liberty; a son, Charles A. (Cathryn) Wood of New Carlisle; thirteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruth Stanford and Cathy Floyd both of Tupelo, MS.He was preceded in death by a sister, Jo Haas.Woody proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, receiving a Purple Heart at the Battle of Chosin Reservoir.He enjoyed farming, the St. Joseph County 4-H Horse & Pony Club, collecting old tractors and cars especially Studebakers. He was member of the St. Joseph Lodge #45 F&AM South Bend and the South Bend Tribune 25 Year Club. He was a wonderful Husband, Father and Grandfather.Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 30th from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at Hanley and Sons Funeral Home Southwest Chapel located at State Road 23/W. Ireland Road, South Bend. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 31st with visitation one hour prior in the funeral home with Pastor Tim Stewart officiating.
