McConachie, Harriet Marie Wilson 95, passed away on June 21, 2016. Harriet was born on April 29, 1921 at the Home Place, a family farm located just north of Andover. She was the youngest of three daughters born to Fred D. Wilson and Olive N. Wilson. In 1929, the family moved to North Pershing in Wichita. Harriet graduated from Wichita East High School in 1938 and Wichita University (now Wichita State University) in 1942. She met her husband, Max Clayton McConachie, during her junior year at WU. They married shortly after graduation on September 18, 1942. As a newly commissioned officer in the United States Army, Lt. McConachie shipped overseas. In 1944, while her husband served with the 85th Infantry Division in Northern Italy, Harriet gave birth to their son Kirk. After the war, Harriet and Max began a lifelong partnership that included family, church, farming and banking. For seven decades, Harriet cheerily greeted and came to know generations of Andover State Bank customers. Always ready with a smile, she listened to and shared stories with all who stopped by her desk. Harriet is preceded in death by her husband, Max, of 49 years; her parents; her two sisters, Winifred Howard (Dr. Donald O.) and Iris Jones (Jerald R.). She is survived by her son, Kirk (Patricia); her two grandchildren, Allison M. Grace (Jeff) and Parker Clayton McConachie; and two great-grandchildren, (Katherine and Jack Grace). The family wishes to express gratitude to Regent Park Rehabilitation and Health Care and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 24, in the chapel at East Heights United Methodist Church, where Harriet was a charter member. A private internment ceremony at Lakeview Cemetery will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in her memory to East Heights United Methodist Church, 4407 E. Douglas Ave., Wichita, KS 67218. Downing & Lahey East Mortuary. Share tributes online at: www.dlwichita.com
