Harry Alford Harry Alford, 83, of Sea Pines in Hilton Head passed away on April 5th. The cause of death was a broken heart, after the loss of his beloved wife, Ann. He was born on August 22, 1932 in Gay, Georgia. Following a stellar basketball and baseball career in high school, Harry tried out for the major leagues and had the opportunity to briefly play for a New York Yankees farm team. His love for baseball never left him and he particularly followed the Atlanta Braves. Harry served for two years in the U. S. Army during the Korean War, working in a psychological operations unit. Following the war, he attended West Georgia College and finished at Georgia State University with a degree in Finance. Although his love was the stock market, he was wooed by General Motors and worked for them for over thirty years as an Industrial Engineer. They resided here for the past twenty-four years and were active members of Sea Pines Country Club. They attended St. Andrew by the Sea United Methodist Church where Harry volunteered many years helping with finance. Harry is survived by his daughter Marianne (Paul) Osentoski, his son Ryburn (Ry) and grandson Matthew.
