DERKSEN, HarryOn Sunday, October 23, 2016, Harry Derksen passed away suddenly at home and went to be with his Lord. Harry was born on April 8, 1936 in Mullingar, SK and grew up on a farm near Redfield, SK. He married Shirley Sawatzky on June 1, 1962. For more than 30 years he enjoyed serving the public at his community service station in Saskatoon, SK, North Park Service. Harry loved the Lord and his family, and his grandchildren were his pride and joy. He loved spending time outdoors snowmobiling, hunting and horseback riding, or simply just enjoying God's creation. He was predeceased by his parents Bernhard and Anna (Klein) Derksen, his siblings Bertha (Jake Stobbe), Albert, Samuel (Erma), Ann, Arnold, Rosalie, and Esther and brother-in-law Alvin Sawatzky. He is survived by his wife Shirley (Sawatzky), daughter Danette, son Leigh (Lynn) and grandchildren Brianne (Noah Wiebe) and Jamison, brothers-in-law, Lorne Klassen, Clarence (Dorothy) Sawatzky, sisters-in-law Gladys Derksen and Mary Sawatzky and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Harry's life will be held on Friday, October 28 at 2 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church (107 McWillie Ave) Saskatoon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rio Grande Bible Institute Canada Inc. (103-2005 St. Mary's Rd Winnipeg, MB R2N 4P1).
