FLEMISTER, Harry Armstrong Harry Armstrong Flemister was born on May 11, 1919 in College Park, GA and lived in Atlanta most of his life. He was the only child of Jessie Wills Henley and Simon A. Flemister, both now deceased. He graduated from Boy's High School in 1936 and Georgia Tech in the class of 1940 with a BS degree in Electrical Engineering. He was a member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. A veteran of World War II he served over four years of active duty from 1941-1945 as a commissioned officer with the Naval Reserve and retired as a LCDR, USNR. He was employed by Southern Bell, now AT&T, for 41 years and retired in 1982 as District Network Manager - Transmission and Protection. He was a member of the Lenox Life Member Club of the AT&T Pioneer Organization. Mr. Flemister served many years in the Pioneers in various capacities and enjoyed his hobby of photography by photographing functions and projects for publicity and records. He was also Section Chairman of the IEEE Society and a member of "The Bully Boys" society. He was an active member of North Springs United Methodist Church where he served over the years in various positions. He was Lay Delegate to the North Georgia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church from North Springs for ten years. He was a supporter of the Boy Scouts of America Organization from his first joining in 1931 as a Tenderfoot Scout and helped many scouts obtain their Eagle level. He was married to Jean Evans, his sweetheart, on July 18, 1942 and devoted to her until his death. They had two daughters, Martha F Barnes and Jessie F. Carson; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. The memorial service will be held at North Springs United Methodist Church at 2PM Saturday, October 29, 2016. A reception will follow. The body was cremated and a private interment will be held at Westview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to North Springs United Methodist Church or the American Red Cross will be accepted.
