Harry H. KnickerbockerVa Beach - Harry H. Knickerbocker passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2016. He was born on May 24, 1934, to the late Margaret Elizabeth (Sawyer) Knickerbocker and Harry Hiram Knickerbocker, Sr., in Norfolk, Virginia.Mr. Knickerbocker graduated from Maury High School and the College of William and Mary's Norfolk Division which later became Old Dominion University. He began his career with National Bank of Commerce, spending over 50 years in the banking communities of Norfolk and Virginia Beach until retiring from BB&T in 2008. A proud member of ODU's Basketball Hall of Fame, he was a long-time supporter and season ticket holder of the ODU Men's basketball team. Mr. Knickerbocker was also a long-time member of the Chesapeake Athletic Club.He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 52 years, Sandra Horton Knickerbocker; daughter, Kara E. Collins and her husband, Charlie; daughter, Leslie A. Knickerbocker; son, Kevin A. Knickerbocker and his wife, Jana; and nine beautiful grandchildren, Michael, Meg, Jonathan, Patrick, Matthew, Daniel, Sarah, Nicholas, and Emma.The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 14, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, 1485 Kempsville Rd, Virginia Beach. A service will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 5181 Singleton Way, Virginia Beach, VA, 23462.
