Harry A. Theurer, Jr.August 20, 1922 - September 21, 2017York TownshipHarry A. Theurer, Jr., 95, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, September 21 at the Haven at Springwood. He was the beloved husband to Anna Jo (Nicholas) Theurer. The couple celebrated 66 years of marriage this past March. Mr. Theurer was born on August 20, 1922 in Watertown, MA, and was the son of the late Harry A. and Blanche (Benoit) Theurer. Harry graduated from Watertown High School in Massachusetts. He was a professional musician by the age of 17, playing cornet in the Bill Rugg Orchestra throughout New England. Harry attended Northeastern University before entering the U.S. Army Air Force in 1942. He was a decorated B-17 pilot during WWII, having flown 35 missions with the 8th Air Force out of England. Harry was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross in 1944. He also served as a flight check pilot during the Korean War, and was released from active duty in 1952 with a rank of Captain. For 29 years, Harry owned and operated Five-Town Motors, a Ford dealership in Shrewsbury, until his retirement in 1982. He was then associated for several years with York Lincoln Mercury. Harry was Past President of the Shrewsbury Lion's Club, Secretary of the Ford Dealers' Advertising Fund, and a member of the 8th Air Force Historical Society, and the 447th Bomb Group Association. Harry enjoyed golfing for many years following his retirement, and also held a civilian commercial pilot license for 38 years. Spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren was one of his greatest joys.In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Nancy Shirey and husband, Dale and Carol Reynolds and husband, Scott; three grandchildren, Tad Shirey and wife, Amanda, Megan Erickson and husband, Neal and Tara Klein and husband, Josh; six great-grandchildren, Bryn and Luke Shirey, Dane and Hazel Erickson, and Jackson and Ava Klein. He is also survived by a brother, Richard Theurer and wife, Donna; sister-in-law, Nora Ordway; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Theurer. Per Harry's request, private services were held for the family to celebrate his life. The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Haven at Springwood, and everyone at Caring Hospice Services for their wonderful care.Memorial contributions in Harry's name may be made to the Dallastown American Legion or Caring Hospice Services.The Austin H.
