Harry Winger, 78Harry Winger, 78, of rural Goodland, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2014, at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on March 30, 1936, in Wolcott, Indiana to the late Robert and Bethel Winger. He attended Gilboa School until he began working with his father on their dairy farm. Harry married his school sweetheart, Sandra York Winger, on February 28, 1956. He and Sandra moved to Goodland in 1961 where they raised their two children, Karen Sue and Terry Lee. Harry had farmed his entire life, carrying on the family tradition of dairy farming for over 50 years.Harry was a member of the Goodlan Methodist Church for 12 years and had been a current member of the Goodland Baptist Church for the last 40 years. During his time in the Baptist Church, he served as a trustee for 20 years and worked with the youth groups there as well.In his free time, Harry enjoyed watching western movies and spending time with his family. He enjoyed taking an active role in the lives of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Surviving are Harry's wife, Sandra, his two children, daughter Karen (Dale) of Morocco, and son Terry (wife Jacqueline) of Kentland, four brothers-Alvie Winger of Romney, Harold Winger (wife Diana) and Roger Winger (wife Carlene) all of Wolcott), and Carl Winger (wife Jan) of Brookston, a sister-Violet Widner (husband Ron) of Remington. Harry is survived by 6 grandchildren-Joshua(wife Madonna), Kassie, Jeremy (wife Mandi), Jessica, Olivia (husband Jason), and Matthew. There are also 6 great-grandchildren-Jared, Benjamin, Mark, Hannah, Brett, and Carter.He is proceeded in death by his parents, Bethel and Robert Winger, brothers-Richard and Clifford Winger, and a sister-Genevia Winger.Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 4th Gerts Funeral Home in Goodland. Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 5th, at 11 a.m. at the Gerts Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Goodland Cemetery.
