This obituary is administered by:
Harvey "Cork" R. CunninghamKarthausHarvey R. "Cork" Cunningham, 69, passed away Friday, March 10, 2017 at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Shortly after his diagnosis in June of 2015 he welcomed his furry companion, he named Josie Hope whom never left his side during his battle. He was born on June 6, 1947, in Chambersburg, to the late Harvey and Rose (Carlin) Cunningham. On March 26, 1982 in Winchester, Virginia he married Stephanie (Salvanish) Cunningham who survives at home. He was a 1965 graduate of Fannett -Metal High School. Shortly after he graduated he proudly joined the United States Marines and served from 1966 in Vietnam until his honorable discharge in 1968. After leaving the Marines, he joined the Pennsylvania State Police at Philipsburg in 1969 then transferred to Rockview until he retired in 1992. Cork then worked at Reese Dairy Farms from 1993-1994, and for Bald Eagle Area School District as a receiving clerk traveling to all the schools within the district. He was loved by all that knew him. Cork coached his sons during their years in Little League and Teener League. His passion for soccer led him to start the co-ed soccer team which he coached from 1996-2000. Then he started the Bald Eagle Area Girls Varsity Soccer Team from 2000-2012 and became the Junior High Girls Soccer coach where he had the pleasure of coaching his granddaughter, Kaleigh until 2014. Cork was truly one of a kind, to know him was to love him, he had a great sense of humor and the ability to make everyone laugh. He was always the coolest guy in the room. His greatest pleasure in life was his family and grandchildren. Cork enjoyed gardening, fishing, bowling, and taking care of his rabbits, chickens and birds. In addition to his wife of 35 years, he is survived by two sons, Daniel (Nicole) of rural Julian, Matthew (Kim) of Karthaus; five grandchildren, Kaleigh, Kyler, Khloe, Kollin and Emmalyn. Also surviving are two brothers, Toby (Pat) of Willow Hill, Dana (Cathy) of Fort Loudon; a niece, Lynda (Rod) Roberts of Chambersburg; a nephew, Michael (Samantha) Wells of Carlisle; two aunts, Kay (Ebe) Shearer of Fannettsburg, and Sandy (Gary) Dinsmore of Fort Loudon; an uncle, Paul Carlin of Chambersburg; great niece, Wren Roberts of Chambersburg; numerous other nieces and nephews, and many close friends who spent time with him and took him for rides during his illness. His funeral arrangements were entrusted to Janess Jones, whom he loved like a daughter. There will be a public visitation on Thursday March 16, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. at Spring Street, Bellefonte, PA 16823.
