Mr. Harvey Franklin Campbell, 65, of Lake City, Florida passed away on June 4, 2014 at his home. Harvey was born on February 9, 1969 in Chicago Illinois to the late Frank Campbell, Sr. & the late Barbara Ann Campbell. He lived in Germany until age 4 until he returned to the United States and spent his childhood in Savannah, Georgia and Tallahassee, Florida. Harvey moved to Lake City in 9th grade and graduated from Columbia High School in 1967. He also graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Journalism. He married his high school sweetheart, Helen Elaine Greene, on December 26, 1969. Harvey was well known in the community in many different capacities. He was the sports editor for the Lake City Reporter for a decade during the 1980's until 1992 covering sporting events all over the state of Florida. He then became the Executive Director of the Columbia County Tourist Development Council until his retirement earlier this year. Harvey was often referred to as Columbia County's biggest cheerleader and gave selflessly to our community. He also served on the Columbia County School Board for 16 years. Harvey is survived by his wife of 44 years, Helen Campbell, son Frank (Jennifer) Campbell, daughter Kim (Ross) Harbourt, and three grandchildren, Alex Campbell, Zachary Campbell and Emerson Harbourt. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 7th at 2 pm at New Life Christian Fellowship Church. Officiating Mr. James Montgomery.
