Hazel ParhamElberton, GAOn March 25, 2017, the beautiful and loving spirit of Hazel Cleo Compton Parham went to Heaven at home peacefully surrounded by her family. She was born on October 5, 1925. Her devotion as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was a manifestation of a heart that was committed to Christ. She served quietly, compassionately and faithfully, and touched the lives of her family and friends that will live on and continue to inspire all that had the priviledge to know her. She was a homemaker, former member of the Elberton Pilot Club, and the Elbert Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Boyd Hall Parham; father, Alex Compton; mother, Annie Byrum Compton Bryant; step-father, William Lonnie Bryant; and siblings: Clarence "Hoppy", Charles, J.D., Cleo, Helen, Richard, Reedy, Broadus, Austin, Gerald, Archie, Madge, Mabel, Betty Jean, Judy, and Lizzelle. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Kathy and Dean Addison of Elberton, Boyd R. "Randy" and Robbi Parham of Elberton, and Tim Parham of Macon; brother, George L. and Ruth Bryant of Abbeville; six grandchildren: Deana and Noel, Amy, Ashley, Marcus, Evan and Heather, and Emma; four great-grandchildren: Logan, Roman, Alaina, and June; and a host of nieces and nephews. The funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, March 28, at 11 o'clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Connie Ivestor officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park with Dean Addison, Noel Moreno, Reid Compton, Buddy Compton, Evan Parham, and Marcus Parham serving as pallbearers. The family is at the residence on Calhoun Falls Highway and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 7:00-9:00p.m. on Monday evening. Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000 Department 142, Memphis, TN 38148.
