HELEN DITZLER BREMMER, 94 PEARL CITY - Helen D. (Kuhlmyer) Bremmer, age 94, of Pearl City, died on April 14, 2013, at the Lena Living Center. Helen was born on August 24, 1918, the daughter of Raymond and Clara (Ditzler) Kuhlmyer in Pearl City. Helen married Leland Bremmer on September 15, 1942. He died on April 23, 2007. She graduated with a degree in elementary education from Carthage College and she was a teacher in Pearl City and country schools. Leland and Helen farmed until retiring and moving to Pearl City in 1973. Helen was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Pearl City, Ladies Aid, Mary Martha Circle, Fellowship Club, Stephenson County Home Extension and Pearl City American Legion Auxiliary where she served as a past president. Helen enjoyed ceramics, gardening, cooking and travelling. She and her husband spent 33 years during the winter months in Harlingen, TX. Most of all, Helen cherished spending time with her family and friends. Surviving are her daughter, Donna (Kenneth) Schultz of Overland Park, KS; son, Ronald (Karen) Bremmer of Pearl City, IL; six grandchildren, Michael (Elizabeth) Schultz of Clive, IA, Chad (Deborah) Bremmer of Pearl City, Bryan Schultz of Lincoln, CA, Ross (Melanie) Bremmer of Pearl City, Carmen Bremmer of Decatur, IL and Amy (Jack) Bauer of Overland Park, KS. There are ten great-grandchildren, Andrew, Benjamin, Addison, Ava, Ethan, Matthew, Eli, Nathan, Lucas, Jayden and soon-to-be baby boy Bauer. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Irene Kuhlmyer. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two infant children, Janet Elaine and Gary Alan; and a brother, Mervin Kuhlmyer. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 18, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 229 S. First St., Pearl City. Visitation at the church from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 17. Pastor Art Stees will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Freeport. A memorial fund has been established in her name for St. John's Lutheran Church and the Pearl City American Legion Auxiliary.
