Franz, Helen F.Helen F. Franz, age 98, a resident of Laurel Grove Assisted Living, Manitowoc, died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, March 31, 2017 at Laurel Grove.She was born on December 17, 1918 in the township of Manitowoc Rapids, daughter of the late Frank and Sophie (Brunner) Herrmann. On July 26, 1947 she married Clement R. Franz at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on December 19, 1990. Helen was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She was also a member of the African Violet Club. Helen had many pen pals and belonged to a National 1918 Club. After Clements retirement, the couple traveled around the United States and Canada on bus trips.Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law: Suzanne & Steven Dhein, Chilton, Cindy & David Klein, Manitowoc; one son: Stephen Franz, Manitowoc; two grandchildren: Jenny Dhein, Madison, Jon (Cortney) Dhein, North Carolina; and a sister: Florence Popelar, Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was also preceded in death by two grandsons: Bryan and Andrew Klein; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Richard & Mary Herrmann, Norbert & Jeanette Herrmann; two sisters and three brothers-in-law: Esther & Bernard Kuehnl, Marie & Robert Schroeder, Clarence Popelar; and an infant twin sister.Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 10, 2017 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand (1416 Grand Avenue) Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev.
