Helen L. HenryMARION: Helen L. Henry, age 95, of Marion, Ohio, passed away Friday, December 16, 2016 at Heartland of Marion. She was born on April 27, 1921 in Stuart, Nebraska, to the late Mahlon and Mabel (Wymore) Shearer.Helen graduated from Suart High School in Stuart, Nebraska, in 1939, and in 1942, she graduated from Mercy Hospital Nursing School in Council Bluff, Iowa, before moving her family to Marion, Ohio, in 1958. She spent 35 years working as an industrial nurse, offering her talents to Union Pacific, National Can, and Tecumseh Products Company. She retired from Tecumseh Products Company in 1977.She was a member of Forest Lawn Presbyterian Church, and she enjoyed traveling cross country in her RV with her family. She was also fond of boating, camping, and canning the fruits and vegetables she collected from her husband's garden. She was a volunteer for the Marion Red Cross and Meals on Wheels, and she was also a volunteer member of the Ridgedale Sports Booster Club. She and her husband also acted as host parents for Harding High School Invitational Wrestling tournaments.She was preceded in death by her first husband Sgt. William Davenport, who died in World War II; her last husband H. C. Henry; her sister Ava "Jean" Rador; her brothers Wayne and Richard Shearer; and her step-daughters Linda Meddings and Ruth Beers.She is survived by her sister Margaret Cigrand of Cascade, Iowa; her sons Robert (Martha) Davenport of Beverly Hills, Florida, and Gerald (Betty) Grace of Maine; her step-sons Calloway (Lee) Henry of Chardon, Ohio, Curtis (Diane) Henry of Van Buren, Indiana, Joseph (Barbara) Henry of Galion, Ohio, and Jeffrey (Polly) Henry of Marion, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 20, 2016 from 12 PM to 1 PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Services will take place at 1 PM with Rev. Kenny Thomas, a good friend of the family, officiating.
