Helen Josephine Barker Whisenhunt, 86, of Galax, died Tuesday, May 23, 2017, in the Waddell Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born on July 1, 1930, in Carroll County, to Robert D. and Celia Eda Goodson Barker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Maney Wesley Whisenhunt Jr.Survivors include her daughter, Beverly W. Morrison of Galax; son and daughter-in-law, Stacy W. and Betty Whisenhunt of Galax; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. A funeral will be held Saturday, May 27, 2017, at 11 a.m. in the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rodney Christman and Pastor James Cowley officiating. Burial will follow in the Camp Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 a.m. until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
