Helen Lorene McClurg Rainey A 60-year resident of Marin County, died November 6, 2016 in San Pablo. Helen was born on a farm in northern Nebraska on September 20, 1925. She was valedictorian of her high school class and the first person in her family to earn a 4-year college degree, a BA in Mathematics from Hastings College in Nebraska. She moved to Marin County in 1954 with her husband and children, and lived in Ross for nearly 20 years, and then in Corte Madera for over 40. Helen worked at the old Northwestern Pacific Railway office in San Rafael for several years, and when the company was bought by Southern Pacific, transferred to the Southern Pacific Land Company in San Francisco, where she worked for over 20 years, primarily as Payroll Manager. She was an active member of First Methodist Church in San Rafael, and later in her life joined Marin Covenant Church of San Rafael, and was active there for a number of years. She is survived by: her daughter, Kathy Kahn of Oakland; her son, Stanley Rainey of Vancouver, Washington; her former husband Sterling Rainey of San Rafael; her sister Donna Tuchenhagen of El Paso, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews and cousins in Nebraska and across the country; and her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Shawn Rainey and Jesse Rainey of Vancouver, WA, Phillip Rainey with his wife Jamie and sons Jamison and Christopher of Battle Creek, WA, Daniel Kahn of Chicago, IL, and Jeremy Kahn of Oakland.
