Helen M. Honeywell SlaterZANESVILLE: Helen M. Honeywell Slater, 88, of Zanesville, Ohio passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2013, at Darby Glen Nursing Center in Hilliard, Ohio. She was born on July 4, 1925, the fourth child of the late Elizabeth and Howard Honeywell. She was a faithful member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and servant for our Lord to others. She worked at Gould National Battery until suffering a back injury then went back to school to be a self-employed beautician. She loved doing hair through which she acquired many friends. In her 80s, she was still driving her friends to dinner and bowling 2 days a week. She loved to take "the bus" to Wheeling and Columbus casinos to enjoy the day with her elderly friends. She always seemed to have that "lucky streak." She is survived by one sister, Irene (John) Dalton of Eaglepoint, Oregon; four daughters; Karen (James) Greer of McConnelsville, Ohio, Sheila (James) Stookey of Galena, Ohio, Patricia (Joe) Weldon of Tallassee, Alabama and Teresa (Steve) Clark of Philo, Ohio; Mother was blessed with eight grandchildren; Kim (Steve) Hann of McConnelsville, Ohio, Bill (Liana) Greer of Nashville, Tennessee, Amy (Kyle) Johnson of New Albany, Ohio, Emily (Brian) Foulke of Hilliard, Ohio, Troy (Melinda) Maxwell of Auburn, Alabama and 10 great-grandchildren. One grandson, Todd (T.J) Maxwell of Montgomery, Alabama preceded her death in May 1991; also preceding her in death was her husband and our father, Lewis M. Slater, who passed in September 1993; her mother, father, two brothers, and two sisters.At mother's request, her remains have been cremated and Memorial Services will be held at Darby Glenn Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Hilliard, Ohio, on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Memorial Services will also be held on December 20, 2013 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church on 7th Street, Zanesville, Ohio, 10:30 a.m., followed by a Graveside Service at Zanesville Memorial Park. Calling hours for the family will begin 30 minutes prior to the service on Friday at Trinity.Bryan and Snider Funeral Home in Zanesville are handling the arrangements.Rest in Peace dear Sister, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother.
