She peacefully left this world on July 5, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones. Helen's departure has left a void in our lives that cannot be filled, but her memory will forever be cherished.

Helen was a remarkable soul who touched the lives of everyone she met. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her unwavering kindness, compassion, and selflessness defined her character, making her a shining example to emulate.

Helen was born to the late Phil and Maria Cortes, who instilled in her strong family values and a deep sense of community. Growing up, she displayed an immense curiosity and thirst for knowledge, excelling academically and intellectually. Helen's passion for learning led her to pursue a career in education, where she could inspire and shape the minds of future generations.

After earning her Bachelor's degree in Education, Helen dedicated her life to teaching. For over four decades, she wholeheartedly committed herself to her students, striving to foster their intellectual growth and emotional well-being. Helen's classroom was a haven of love, respect, and encouragement, where her students felt valued and supported. Her patience, wisdom, and dedication left an indelible impact on generations of young minds.

Outside her professional life, Helen was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Jerry Garcia. Their relationship was a testament to a love that transcended time and trials, built on mutual respect, understanding, and unwavering support. Together, they weathered life's storms, celebrating each triumph and sharing their joys and sorrows. Helen and Jerry were pillars of strength for each other, and the love they shared will forever endure.

As a mother, Helen was a constant source of love and guidance to her children, George and Mary. In honor of Helen, a memorial service will be held on July 15, 2023, at the Garcia family home in Prescott, Arizona. Friends, family, and all whose lives were touched by her are welcome to join and celebrate the remarkable life she lived.
