Helen Scott RobinsonAGE: 85 • Basking RidgeHelen Scott Robinson passed away peacefully June 27, 2017 at Fellowship Village in Basking Ridge N.J. She was 85.Helen Schuessler Scott was born on September 16, 1931 in Chicago IL, the daughter of Jack Vincent Scott and Helen Mountain Schuessler (Scott). Helen graduated from Abington Friends School which became a source of lasting friendships for her entire life. Helen graduated from Mount Holyoke College in 1953 which shaped an inquiring mind and lifelong dedication to the school. She received an M.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and attended the University of Edinburgh. After college, Helen taught history at the Abington Friends School before being married to Andrew L. Robinson Jr. in 1956. Helen enjoyed a 22 year career in publishing with Gordon Publications / Reed Elsevier before retiring in 2001. She served on many committees including the Junior League of Morristown, Fosterfields Historical Farm, the American Business Press and additional committees at Fellowship Village. She was a longtime member of Morris County Golf Club and enjoyed tennis, golf, bridge and was an avid reader. In her youth, she cherished her summers at Beach Haven on Long Beach Island, N.J.Helen was not only a dedicated friend to many but treated everyone she met with courtesy and kindness. She always fostered the spirit of intellectual curiosity and a drive to succeed.She is survived by two children, Helen R. Cleaves (Robin) and her husband Al of Olympia, Washington and Andrew L. Robinson III (Drew) and his wife Martha of Lynchburg Va., her brother David A. Scott of Philadelphia Pa. Her beloved 7 Grandchildren: Roger Cleaves, Stuart Cleaves, Stephanie Cleaves, Garrett Cleaves and Alanna Cleaves, Clair Schenkel and Tice Schenkel. She is also survived by nieces and nephews: Evelyn Wilder Scott-Straight of Philadelphia, Jack Vincent Scott III of New York and Deborah Ann Scott Malvetti of Pompton Plains, New Jersey.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mount Holyoke College, 50 College Street, South Hadley, Massachusetts 01075.A ceremony celebrating Helen's life will be held at Fellowship Village, Basking Ridge, New Jersey Saturday July 22 at 11:00 a.m.
