KINSTON - Henry Landrum Johnston, 82, of 2007 Hardee Road, passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2013, at Greendale Forest in Snow Hill, N.C. after a lengthy battle with cancer. Henry was born on April 2, 1930, in Newnan, Ga. to the late Henry Grady Johnston and Lucy Victoria Landrum. After high school, he joined the Marine Corps and came to Camp Lejeune in December 1948. Henry was a veteran of the Korean War; a member of the American Legion and Woodmen of the World. He was the president and manager of United Auto Parts until he retired in December 2007. Henry was a member of First Baptist Church and the Spillman Sunday school class. Throughout his life, Henry touched the lives of many people and was always willing to help those in need. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Dorothy Thigpen Johnston; two daughters, Sondra Autry (Don) of Jacksonville, and Beverly Wiley (Allen) of Beulaville: three grandchildren, Roger Autry (Kate), Stephanie Mullins, and Todd Autry (Heather); three great-grandchildren, Taylor Mullins, Graeme Autry, and Keegan Autry; one sister, Ellen Moye of Decatur, Ga.; one nephew, Allen Moye (Beth) of Decatur, Ga.; and one niece, Lucy Moye of Hillsdale, Mich. The Family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at Community Funeral Home of Beulaville, Beulaville, N.C. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. and the burial will follow at East Duplin Memorial Gardens.
