At an early age Henry joined Pryor Hill Baptist Church in Henderson, Rusk County, TX. 

He received his education in Henderson Public School in Rusk County. 

Pastor Blanton met and married Miss Mary Dorris Rayson on January 5, 1951.  To this union six children were born. 

He retired from Sandler’s Bar-B-Q sales in February of 2010 after 14 years employment. 

He pastored Zion Apostolic Church in the historic Holland Quarters community for over 27 years until his health began to fail. 

He remained a Christian and on Saturday, January 5th God in His infinite mercy called Pastor Henry O. Blanton home to be with Him at Longview Regional Medical Center in Longview, TX. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Jessie Blanton Sr; mother, Mrs Buelah Beatrice Blanton; one son, Robert Henry Blanton; two brothers, Mr. Jessie Blanton Jr and Mr George F. Blanton; two sisters, Mrs Ola Faye Coooer and Mrs Lola Mar Hart. 

He leaves to cherish his precious memories: A loving and devoted wife, Mrs Mary Doris Blanton; two sons, Mr Perry Blanton and Mr Timothy Blanton; three daughters, Ms Sarah Jones, Mrs Barbara Bowens and Mrs Margaret McAlister; twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs Lois Jackson of Henderson, TX and Mrs Lillian Means of Garland, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
