Herman (Trinidad) Chacon, 85, a resident of Las Vegas, passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Vida Encantada Nursing Home in Las Vegas. He was born on June 3, 1928 to the late Remigio Chacon and Saturina Gonzales in Coyote. Herman served in the Army for four years and then found the love of his life. He was united in marriage to Rosabell Estrada on Sept. 21, 1963 in Las Vegas.He was a lifelong missionary and served God to his fullest. Herman started his Home Missionary Service for the Southern Baptist Convention at Calvary Baptist in Las Vegas. He also served at Primera Iglesia Bautista in Las Cruces, Palomas and Josefa, Mexico, Deming, Ogden, Utah, Tucumcari, and lastly, Bible Church, Las Vegas.He is preceded in death by his parents, Remigio and Saturina Chacon; four brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Rosabell Estrada Chacon of the family home; children, Rose Ella Estrada and companion, Richard Moralez of Las Cruces, Herman Diego Chacon of Colorado; grandchildren: Nicholas, Zachary, and Brittany Ontiveros, all of Las Cruces; one great-grandchild, Aiden Ontiveros, of Las Cruces; sisters, Lucy Pacheco and Dolores Martinez, both of Española; numerous nieces, nephews as well as brothers and sisters in law who were all very special to him. Visitation was held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at Rogers Mortuary Chapel in Las Vegas. Services will be held at 9 a.m. today (Monday) at Calvary Baptist Church. Pastor Owen Young will be officiating. Interment will follow at the Trementina Memorial Cemetery in Trementina with the following serving as casket bearers: Obed Sanchez, David Estrada, Ricky Trevino, Gilbert Pacheco, Manuel Pacheco, Remijio Pacheco, Joseph Pacheco and Jeremy.
