Homer Alfred "Al" OliverBronteHomer Alfred "Al" Oliver passed away at his home in Bronte on Oct. 18, 2017, while surrounded by family and friends.Al was born on Aug. 5, 1935 ,in Nolan County to Homer and Kate Oliver. After graduation, Al proudly served a three-year term in the
United States Navy. Later he resided in San Angelo for many years and was employed by R.M. Minton & Sons. He spent the remainder of his life in Bronte where he enjoyed tending his cattle.He is preceded in death by his parents.Al is survived by his wife, Cathy Oliver, of Bronte; his son, Stephen Shults of San Angelo; his daughter, Angie Shults and spouse Jimmy King of Brownwood; his brother, Charles Oliver of Bayfield, Colorado; grandchildren Elizabeth Shults of San Marcos, Nicholas Shults of San Angelo and Krissy King of Brownwood; and cousins Billy Oliver of Nolan, Lawana Brockman of Odessa, Avanell Siler of Brady, Willie Rae Motfitt of Odessa, Don Williams of Rock Hill, South Carolina and Micky and Melissa Oliver of San Marcos.Visitation is all day on Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, at the funeral home with family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Graveside service is at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, in Slater's Chapel Cemetery in Nolan. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Gabriel's Hospice & Palliative Care or to a charity of your choosing.Online condolences may be made to
