Horace Edward "Ham" HamiltonZANESVILLE: Horace Edward "Ham" Hamilton, 89, of Zanesville, passed away at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born on July 11, 1923, in Woodsfield, Ohio, a son of the late Thomas R. and Evaline Wohnhas Hamilton. He received his Master's Degree from Xavier University. He was an educator for over 30 years, retiring as Principal for Roosevelt Junior High. He was a member of the Euclid Avenue United Methodist Church, West Muskingum Lions Club, Stafford Lodge F&AM #300 where he was a member for 61 years, was a life member of the
VFW, and was a volunteer at Genesis Good Samaritan for 20 years. He served our country in the
United States Marine Corps in the South Pacific during
World War II and was honorably discharged in 1945 with the rank of Sergeant. Surviving are his wife, Judy Estadt Hamilton, whom he married February 29, 1992, of the home; and two sons, Gary (Melanie) Hamilton and Pete (Corey) Hamilton, both of Zanesville. His family through marriage, Michael (Patty) Estadt of Orient, OH and Linda (Kevin) Schott of Caldwell, OH; eight grandchildren, Ashley, Andrew, Alexa, Emily, Kylee, and Aubrey Hamilton, Margaret Estadt, and Ellen Schott; and a sister, Sarah Kreig of Sardis, OH.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Alberta Robinson Hamilton, who passed away July 11, 1989; four brothers, Vernon, Thomas, Neil, and Oscar; and five sisters, Laura Bach, Gertrude Hamilton, Geneva Lyons, Eunice Hamilton, and Goldia Hamilton. Friends and family may call from 2:00-6:00 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2013 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD, ZANESVILLE. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at the funeral home with Rev. Max Winland officiating. Ham will be laid to rest at a later date in Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
