SHAFFER, Howard D. 97, of North Hampton passed away surrounded by his family Wednesday, November 2, 2016. He was born on March 23, 1919 in Clark County, the son of the late Forest & Anna (Group) Shaffer. Howard was a member of the North Hampton Community Church and Christiansburg Lodge #226 F&AM. Howard was a very active member of the North Hampton community. He is preceded in death by his wife June Shaffer in 1984; wife Mary E. Shaffer in 2007; and son-in-law Wayne Richardson. Howard is survived by his son Douglas Howard Shaffer (Vikone Douangvongsa); daughter Anna L. Richardson (Jack Wilson); sister Betty Jean Maurer; grandchildren Shari (Bob) Donnelly, Kelly (Rob) Garner, Anita (Mark) Plsek, Sonya (Keil) Hollingsworth and David (Michele) Richardson; 12 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great grandchildren; longtime friend John Ferola; several nieces and nephews. A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday from 11:00 AM to Noon at the North Hampton Community Church. A celebration of life will begin at Noon.
