Howard F. Webb TROY - Howard F. Webb, 90, of Troy, passed away on Saturday November 19, 2016 after a long illness. Howard was born on July 9, 1926 in Jersey City, N.J., a son of the late Howard Webb and Estelle Derocher. Howard moved with his family to Cohoes, NY where he grew up and attended local schools. Howard served in the U.S. Army during
WWII (1944-1946) during which time he was honored to received a
bronze star for valor and also a combat infantry badge. Upon honorable discharge, Howard settled in Troy, NY and was employed as a steel worker for over 33 years with the former Al Tech Specialty Steel Corp in Watervliet where he retired. Howard was an avid reader, he loved old movies, and scrabble and it seemed as though Frank Sinatra was always heard playing in the background. Howard was and animal lover and a “people watcher”. Fascinated by people, their actions and behavior, Howard passed time during retirement just by “observing the neighborhood” from his front porch. It was also here; that Howard would tell the neighborhood kids all kinds of stories, which many of them still recall to this day. Howard tried to stay fit and active for as long as possible and rode his bike up into his 80s. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Mary (Tufts) Webb, whom he married on April 11, 1964 in St. Patrick’s Church, his son Howard P. Webb, and his beloved daughter-in-law Shelly L. Webb all of Troy. He was the brother of Gary (Loretta) Perrier of Latham, NY and uncle of Jean and Vicky Garner both of Troy as well as many other nieces and nephews. Howard was predeceased by his father Howard Webb, his mother Estelle (Derocher) Perrier, his stepfather Ernest S. Perrier and his sister Buffy Lockert. Relatives and friends will be received on Sunday, November 27th from 4-7 p.m. at Riverview Funeral Home, 218 2nd Avenue, (corner of 104th Street) Troy. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. on Monday, November 28th at St. Augustine’s Church, 25 115th Street, Lansingburgh. Interment with military honors will take place at Gerald B.H. Solomon – Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.
