Howard White, Jr. was born on Monday, October 9, 1967 in Brooklyn, NY to Lucille Kendrick Collins and the late Howard White, Sr. On Thursday, May 13, 2021 in McDuffie County, GA, Howard, Jr. departed from this life suddenly. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by a step-father, Willie B. Collins; a father-in-law, John Gartrell; four grandparents, Thomas (Ana) White and Nelson (Lucille) Kendrick.

Very early in his young life, Howard, Jr. joined the Brinkley Chapel Baptist Church of Thomson, GA. He attended the public schools of McDuffie County, GA, and was a 1985 Graduate of Thomson High School in Thomson, GA. After graduating from high school, Howard, Jr. entered into the United States Army where he served for several dedicated years whereupon he later received an Honorable Discharge. After serving in the military, Howard, Jr. was employed with a Contractor where he assisted in the construction of homes. On Saturday, July 29, 2000 Howard White, Jr. was united in marriage to Sarah Gartrell. Spending quality time with his family members and friends meant the world to Howard, Jr. He thoroughly enjoyed the times spent with his son at football practice. During his spare time, he usually spent it fishing.

He leaves behind many special memories to be forever cherished by those who loved him: a loving wife of 20-plus years, Sarah Gartrell White of Lincolnton, GA; eight children, Julia Gartrell, I’lliyah White, Howkeem White, all of Lincolnton, GA, Laterance Demetrius White of Manhattan, NY; Lakasha Lachee White, Tiffany Sade White and Lasina White, Matycia Cunningham all of Thomson, GA; eight grandchildren; a loving mother, Lucille Collins of Thomson, GA; a mother-in-law, Ida Gartrell of Lincolnton, GA; four sisters, Wanda Moore, Priscilla (Aaron) Golatt, Thomasina (David) Waker and Belinda (Tommy) Harris, all of Thomson, GA; one aunt, Eloise (Robert) Dunaway of Thomson, GA; two sisters-in-law, Laura Gartrell of Lincolnton, GA and Valarie Gartrell Jackson of Abbeville, SC; two brothers-in-law, John Gartrell, Jr. and Jessie (Juanita) Gartrell, all of Lincolnton, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
