Hubert "Jerry" Saladin completed his journey here on earth at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, March 13, 2012. He was born on August 12, 1932 in Long Beach, CA. to Hubert Francis and Mabelle Saladin.Jerry graduated St. Anthony's High school in June 1950. Upon graduation he joined the Army as the Korean Conflict broke out. Due to his experience in the funeral business the Army assigned him to Graves Registration and sent him to Korea. He was incredibly proud to have been sent as a Sergeant in charge of the detachment that searched for and buried the bodies of Unknown Soldiers from the Korean Conflict. He received an honorable discharge in 1956, returning to his previous job in the funeral business and completed his education to become a licensed Embalmer for 13 year. Later he changed professions and joined the San Bernardino County Sheriff's office and medically retired in 1977. He became a Private Investigator and worked in Security at Pasadena City College. He studied and became a Catholic deacon in the San Bernardino Diocese. This led him to start the Certification process to become a hospital Chaplain. Jerry moved with family to Yuma in 1992 where he became a chaplain at Yuma Regional Medical Center and retired in 1998. As a Nationally Certified Hypnotist he continued to help people through hypnosis up to a month prior to his death. Jerry believed God places us on earth to serve others and he saw every thing he did as helping people for God.Jerry leaves his wife of 56 years, Sherlyn Saladin; son Jim (Cathy) Saladin; daughter, Christine "Kya" Saladin; granddaughter, Trinette (Justin) Winburn; grandson, Ben (Brittany) Saladin, and great grandsons Van, Rhys and Knox Winburn; extended family and hundreds of friends.A memorial celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, March 25, 2012 from 8am to 10am at the West Wetlands with a prayer service at 9 am.
