Hugh Edward KingOxnard, CAOur father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Hugh Edward King, passed away on June 20, 2017 in Ventura, CA. He was a hardworking man who loved his family. Dad was born on August 2, 1932 in East Peoria, IL to Edward and Margaret King. He graduated from Drummond Township High School in 1950. After graduation he joined the Air Force and served for four years.He married Dorothy
Smith in June of 1956. They were married forty-six years when she passed away in 2002. Dad was in the civil service and was relocated to Oxnard in January 1965. He loved his home and was able to stay there for 52 years, only leaving in the last few months to reside at Aegis Living in Ventura, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Margaret King; brothers, James B. King, William; sisters Trella and Mary and daughter Jane King Ciacio. Hugh is survived by his children; Jeff (Kathi) King, Joni (Edward) Gurrola and Jill Corona. Grandchildren Miranda and Duncan King; Amy (August) Foote, Tawny (Domenick) Dicce, Eddie, Cassandra and Phoebe Gurrola; Natalie, Elizabeth and Katie Corona. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren and life-long friends, Herb and Diane Suskin.Dad was a co-founder of the Petticoat Softball League in Oxnard. He loved providing an organization where girls could be participants instead of spectators.He retired from PMTC (Pacific Missile Test Center) in 1987, but his love of all things aviation never left him. He could tell you what type of plane was flying overhead just by the sound.In accordance with his wishes, there will be no memorial. His ashes will be interred with his wife at Ivy Lawn Cemetery in Ventura, CA.We would like to thank everyone who was kind to our father in the last few years of his life.
