Johnson, HugoHugo L. Johnson, age 83, of Fremont, died on Friday, February 3, 2017 at Wisconsin Veteran Home in King. He was born on June 3, 1933 in Appleton, the son of the late Thorston and Harriet (Melinch) Johnson. Hugo served his country in the US Navy, and achieved the rank of PO2 before being honorably discharged. On June 26, 1954, Hugo married Joyce Schultz in New London. Hugo worked as a crane operator on many sites around the midwest and was a proud member of Union Local 139 in Appleton. He was also a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fremont. Hugo enjoyed spending time tinkering around in his shop, boating, hunting and camping. Hugo is survived by his wife, Joyce; three children, Sherry(Rocky)Gaetzke, Weyauwega; Alan(Deborah)Johnson, Waupaca and Brian Johnson, Weyauwega; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jody, and his mother and father-n-law, Arthur and Hilda Schultz. Funeral services with full military rites will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at 4:30 PM at Lewin Funeral Home, Fremont. Pastor Stephen Pope will officiate. Visitation will be held on Thursday, at the funeral home, from 3PM until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established for the Arbor Day Foundation.
