FERGUSON, Ian (Dr.)July 12, 1941 – November 9, 2017Our beloved, Ian Ferguson (Dr.), 76 years of age, passed away on November 9, 2017, after battling cancer. With Ian was his wife, Mary Ferguson; stepdaughter, Tricia Condon; and sister-in-law, Mona Kane.Ian was born on July 12, 1941, in Brandon, Manitoba. He moved to Winnipeg where he got his medical degree; specializing in Internal medicine and Nephrology. Ian established the first dialysis program at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Ian came to Edmonton, Alberta in 1984, where he continued his practice in Nephrology, and was involved in the Intern and Residence program at the University of Alberta Hospital, the Dialysis clinics at the Edmonton General Hospital, The royal Alexandra Hospital, the University Hospital, as well as his private clinics.Ian's loves, aside from his family and close friends, were medicine and the patients he cared for. On retirement, Ian enjoyed travelling, including the many trips to Ireland, Australia, Japan, Vietnam, and the United States.Ian's life was enriched by great friends, neighbours, and cycling buddies (Grace and Max, Christine and Doug, Neil and Marg, Ken and Susan, Rick and Amy, Kate, Sandy, and Brenda).Ian leaves behind his adored wife, Mary; stepdaughter, Tricia, her husband, Jay, and their three children, Sydney, Sophie, and Brady; daughter, Heather, her husband, David, and their daughter, Isabella; son, Ian Ferguson; and sister, Florence McLeod.The family is grateful and thanks the doctors who provided care to Ian; Dr. Ron Moore, Dr. Michael Kolinsky, and Dr. Don Wilson.To send condolences, please visit
