Ida entered this earthly life on August 12, 1943 in Vicksburg ms.Her parents were the late Chester Brooks, Jr. and Lenora Brooks. She was the oldest of three children. Her family was an integral part of First Baptist Church in vicksburg ms where she was baptized at an early age. At the time of her transition, Ida was a devoted and faithful member of St. Peter African Methodist Episcopal Church. She loved her church family and was actively involved. Her sense of duty to her church and work carried over into her community where she served devotedly. Service was an important aspect of her life. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and worked with the youth at Old Kings’ Orchard. Ida loved working with children, giving to others, gardening and fishing. A graduate of Tennessee State University, she started her 34 year career with Decatur Public Schools at Centennial Junior High in 1966.
