Ines C. BryanJune 21, 2017Ines Cecilia Bryan, 96, of Ft. Myers, Florida and formerly of Dayton, Ohio, passed away on June 21, 2017, at Hope Hospice, Cape Coral, Fla. after a brief hospital stay. Cecilia was born on March 3, 1921 in Rivas, Nicaragua, Central America, and spent the majority of her childhood and young adulthood in Puntarenas, Costa Rica. She was preceded in death by her parents Felix Alvarez Mayorga and Santos Valle, her husband Robert Bryan and her daughter Ruth Bryan and is survived by her loving family, including daughters Maria Bryan, Jane Bryan Schroeder (Carl); son John Bryan (Flora); grandchildren Karen Ferriman, Krista Fox, Keith Clark, Nancy Owens, Melanie Moon, Valerie Sharon and Bryan DiMatteo; and eleven great grandchildren. Cecilia immigrated to the United States in 1950 from Panama, where she had lived from 1942-50, mostly in the Canal Zone, with her husband Robert, who was employed in positions servicing the Panama Canal. They settled in Ohio where Cecilia was initially a homemaker--in Fremont, Springfield and finally Dayton, where she lived for the rest of their time in Ohio and was eventually employed outside the home, from 1962-1986 in various food service positions at Rike-Kumler Co. and St. Elizabeth Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. She was a long time member of Messiah Lutheran Church and then North Riverdale Lutheran Church, Dayton, Ohio and later Messiah Lutheran Church, Cape Coral, Fla. She and her husband Robert became residents of Ft. Myers, Fla., in 1994 following their retirements, and found lovely weather, happiness and great friendships in a community called Tamiami Village in north Ft. Myers, where they resided until failing health brought them back to Ohio in 2010, to be cared for by family. They returned to Florida as snowbirds with family and eventually once again became Florida residents, moving back with family in 2014. Cecilia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and continually took delight and pride in the accomplishments of her family members, who will all miss her greatly. She and Robert, who were married over 71 years, taught us all the meaning of love and devotion. A memorial service in her honor is being planned for Wed., July 12, 2017, 10:30a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 2691 NE Pine Island Rd., Cape Coral, Fla.
