Iona R. Haskins, 96, Monticello, passed away at 6:38 p.m., Friday, Nov. 4, 2016, at Monticello Healthcare.She was born on Sept. 3, 1920, in Cass County to the late George R. and Turrissie (Rex) Baker. On Nov. 11, 1940, she married Robert Howard Haskins in Monticello and he preceded her in death Aug. 16, 1987.She was a graduate of Buffalo High School and worked as a cook. She had worked as a cook at the Spot Drive Inn, Sportsman, Wagon Wheel, Young's, and Ashton's. Iona was a member of Grace Community Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday School many years ago.She enjoyed gardening and cooking and always cooked like she was cooking for an Army. Surviving are her children, John (Peggy) Haskins, Wolcott, Linda (George) Zettee, Monticello, Roberta J. Sprunger, Monticello, Karla (James) Miller, Mumford, Tenn., Donald (Lori) Haskins, Warsaw, Rick (Candee) Haskins, Los Alamos, N.M.; brothers, Lester Baker, Monon, and Leroy Baker, Walton; 12 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.She was also preceded in death by sister, Fern Jordan; brothers, Alvin, Grover, Chester, Ora, Harold, and infant brother, Delmar Dean Haskins; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m. Friday at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello.Funeral services celebrating Iona's life will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Gary Roberts of Grace Community Baptist Church officiating.Burial will follow at Pike Creek Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be given to Grace Community Baptist Church with envelopes available at the funeral home.Messages of condolence be extended at www.springerfuneralhome.com
