Pankratz (Holschbach), Ione I.Ione Ida Irene Pankratz, age 88, of Manitowoc, died Saturday afternoon, January 28, 2017 at her home in the loving embrace of her youngest child, Perry, who provided the necessary care allowing her to remain at home.Ione was born on August 5, 1928 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Peter and Emma (Vogel) Holschbach. She was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, Class of 1946. She was employed at Mirro Aluminum Company in the clerical department until her marriage on September 4, 1948 to Marvin F. Pankratz. A marriage that endured for 65 years until Marvin's passing in 2013. Survivors include their 9 children: three daughters and three sons-in-law: Patricia & John Miller, Eau Claire, Colleen & Eugene Theroux, Virginia, Bridget & Val Rosas, California; six sons and two daughters-in-law: Hugh & Nobue Pankratz, New York, Brian, Manitowoc, Barry, Manitowoc, Kurt, California, Kent & Aura Pankratz, Virginia, and Perry, Manitowoc. Many grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Jeanette Korinek, Amy & Robert Kaufman; one sister-in-law: Betty Holschbach, all of Manitowoc; and two brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law: Michael & Betty Pankratz, Texas, Shirley Pankratz, Manitowoc, and John & Arlene Newhouse, Whitewater.Ione was godmother to three: Michael Holschbach, Wisconsin, Michael Newhouse, Texas, Jean-Paul Theroux, Sao Paulo, Brazil. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters-in-law: Reiny & Nette Holschbach, William & Jean Holschbach, Leo Holschbach; two brothers-in-law: James Korinek and Raphael Pankratz; a grandson: Jack; three great granddaughters: Kassidy, Sarah & Abigail and one nephew: Anthony. Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 4, 2017 at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall (1114 South 21st Street) Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Ione's First Cousin, the Rev. Richard Klingeisen. Burial will occur at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday, February 3, 2017. She was employed and volunteered at St. Mary's Home for many years, as well as volunteering and supervising the quilting program at the Manitowoc Senior Center. Her sons served a combined 75 years in the United States Military. "Ione was an avid gardener and especially loved flowers. She did not consider a table set unless it had a beautiful yet simple flower arrangement, which may have contained a dandelion or two from one of her children or grandchildren. The same way she planted seeds in her garden was the way she planted seeds of life, love and happiness in the hearts of her children." Her clematis vines were beautiful and legendary and served as a back drop for family photos on many happy occasions.
