Irene A. Nyhof, 84, of Oostburg, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2017, at Pine Haven Faith Home in Sheboygan Falls.Irene was born on November 15, 1932, in Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of Rev. Raymond C. and Alyce (Van Den Burg) Lubbers. Irene was a 1932 graduate of Oostburg High School. On August 20, 1952, Irene was married to Fred H. Nyhof in Gibbsville, with her father officiating the marriage ceremony. Fred passed away on November 24, 2010. Irene was a dedicated homemaker and helped her husband in his sales business. Earlier in her life she worked at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital, Bank of Sheboygan and at the Terrace Room of HC Prange Co.Irene was an active and devoted member of First Reformed Church in Oostburg, where she participated in Women's Societies, choir, Sunday School teacher, and various Bible Studies. She was formerly a Cub Scout leader, visited many people in nursing homes and provided car rides for anyone in need of a ride. Irene enjoyed winters in Arizona for 30 years, golf, card playing, reading, music and shopping.Irene is survived by her daughter, Sandy (Mike) Soerens of Oostburg; her son, Dan (Vicki) Nyhof of Oostburg; five grandchildren, Terri (Grant) Markus, Tracy (Justin) VanEss, Dawn (Phoenix) Ramirez, Shannon (Amanda) Nyhof, and Joel (Whitney) Nyhof; 11 great-grandchildren, Carlie and Eliana Markus, Aiden, Aubrey and Addley VanEss, MacKenzie, Kyia, and Taeya Ramirez, Janaya and Jameson Nyhof and Dawson Nyhof; one brother, Ken Lubbers of Sheboygan; one sister-in-law, Donna Lubbers of Leesburg, Florida; and one brother-in-law, Paul Nyhof of Sheboygan Falls. Irene is also survived by nieces, nephews and dear friends.Irene was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Fred; a great-grandson, Carson Markus, two sisters, Lucille (Kenneth and Harold) Weavers-Ludens and Margaret (Ellsworth) Wensink, two brothers, Frederick Lubbers and Wayne Lubbers; and two sisters-in-law, Ginny and Lucille Lubbers.Funeral services to celebrate Irene's life will be held at 6 pm on Monday, September 11, 2017 at the First Reformed Church in Oostburg with Rev. Brian Taylor officiating. Burial will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in the Town of Wilson.Relatives and friends may gather at the church on Monday from 3pm until the time of the service at 6 pm.A memorial fund has been established in Irene's name for Pine Haven Christian Communities and the Sharon S.
