RACINE - Age 85, passed away peacefully at home on October 6, 2015 with her family by her side. Irene was born on August 3, 1930 in Greenwood, Mississippi, to Samuel and Eula Mae (nee: Harris) Allen. Irene and her family moved permanently to Racine in the early 1950's. She worked closely with doctors as a Health Unit Coordinator at St. Mary's Hospital for more than 30 years. After retiring from the hospital, she was employed in Boston Store's Women's Clothing Department at Regency Mall and enjoyed her co-workers and assisting customers. Irene, a devoted, long-time member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, was a Deaconess and took part in the Senior Mission Society as well as the Sunday School Group. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Burnice and Samuel Jr. and nephew, James. She is survived by her sister, Alma; brother, Clarence (Maryann Owen); sisters-in-law, Georgia Allen of Milwaukee and Marilyn Allen of Seattle as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends. Visitation will be held at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 1123 Center St, from 10:00 - 11:00a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2015 with services to begin at 11:00a.m. Interment will be at West Lawn Cemetery, 9000 Washington Avenue.
