Irene Berti, 79, died peacefully on October 9, 2017 at home in Boise, ID with her family. Irene was born on July 24, 1938 in El Paso, TX. Irene is survived by her sister Carole Isturis Alarcon, El Paso and Oscar "Buddy" Alarcon, El Paso; six surviving children, Ruggero Berti, Boise, ID, Tim Berti, Boise, ID, Christine Nester, Salinas, CA, Scott Berti, San Jose, CA, Nicole Caltagirone, San Jose, CA and Paula Berti, San Jose, CA; and 15 surviving grandchildren. Renie, known by her "Besties" or better known "Las Comadres" and have been together since EPHS days in the 50's, stated her favorite past time was traveling, visiting casinos and knitting blankets for her grandchildren and friends. Renie was active in politics and worked many campaigns. She was a former member of the Child Welfare Board and a former member of LULAC Council #4329. She enjoyed attending the State and National Conventions. There will be a gathering of friends and family on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Relyea Funeral Chapel, 318 N. Latah St., Boise, ID 83706, with a rosary service following at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: "A Better Way Memorial Fund," a hospice facility located at 12400 W. Overland Rd., Ste. #100, Boise, ID 83709.
