Mrs. Irene Mackey Hamrick of West Jefferson died on Friday, March 20, 2015 at Presbyterian Hospital in Matthews. She was 93.
Mrs. Hamrick was born on June 19, 1921 in Heath Springs, S.C. to William F. and Mami Crimminger Mackey. Irene loved gardening, quilting, sewing, basket weaving, cooking, canning and reading. She was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church. She was known for her gentle nature and her strong faith. Mrs. Hamrick always loved spending time with her family.
Mrs. Hamrick is survived by two granddaughters, Dawn Presson and husband, Chris, Crystal Hamrick and husband, Billy White, all of Matthews; four great-grandchildren: Brittany Presson, Berry Presson, Jacob Hamrick and Rachel Presson; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hamrick was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Berry Reuben Hamrick; all her brothers and sisters; and a son, Michael "Mike" Hamrick.
Funeral services were held on Monday, March 23, 2015 at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Ken Furches. Burial followed in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.
