Irene K. Yuknis1918 - 2014Irene K. Yuknis, 95, of Powers Lake, Wis., passed away Thursday, March 6, 2014. She was born on Sept. 27, 1918, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of the late Andrew and Victoria (Uryga) Sliwa. She was united in marriage to Benedict J. Yuknis who preceded her in death. Irene was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church in Twin Lakes and spent 40 years cleaning the church. She was a member of the Ladies Sodality of St. Johns. She enjoyed playing BINGO and watching the Green Bay Packers. She is survived by her children, Annette (Gary) French, Christine (Jack) Ceremuga, Dorothy (Dick) Cherven, Victoria Sowka, Ben Yuknis, Donald (Linda) Yuknis and Leonard Yuknis; 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She is further survived by her two sisters, Wanda Robin and Sis. Annette Sliwa. She was preceded in death by numerous brothers and sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 10, 2014, at 10 a.m. at St. Johns Catholic Church, 701 N. Lake Ave., Twin Lakes, WI. The family will receive friends from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at the Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home on Monday, March 10, 2014. Burial will be in St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery.
