Iris Mae Kent AndrewsZANESVILLE: Iris Mae Kent Andrews, 81 of Zanesville died at 9:14 AM Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at the Hospice of the Comforter, Altamonte Springs, Fl with her family by her side.She was born on September 6, 1934 in Zanesville, Ohio the daughter of Leon "Buddy" and Kathryn "Katy" V. Bailey Kent.Iris was a childhood member of Central Trinity United Methodist Church, and in recent years attended 1st Christian Church of the Disciples. She graduated from Lash High School in 1952, and then attended Bethesda Hospital School of Nursing and graduated Sept of 1955 as a Registered Nurse. After graduation she worked for Dr. Harry Sharp at the Powelson Clinic for one year and then worked for Dr. Bobby D. Young for over 40 years and Dr. Doug Myers for several years retiring from nursing at the age of 71. After her retirement she worked as an ambassador at the Bryan & Snider Funeral Home. She was a member of the Bethesda School of Nursing Alumni, Coterie Club and an avid Ohio State football fan. She is survived by her daughter, Paula K. (Brian Veitch) Archer of Apopka, Florida, and a son, Andrew (Christine) Andrews of Fredericksburg VA; her grandchildren, Erica (Matt) Osler, Kyle Matthew Mell, James "JC" Archer, Casey Archer, Nicholas Andrews, and Elena Andrews; Great grandchildren, Cassady Simpkins, Forest Simpkins, Vera Osler, Cian Osler, Silas Osler; and a sister, Nancy (Wayne) Smock and a very special friend since the 1st grade Bonnie Gorsky. Iris was preceded in death in addition to her parents by her husband, James Paul Andrews who died March 20, 1982 and by a son Kent Andrews. Friends may call 2-4 pm & 6-8 pm on Friday, May 27, 2016 at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home where funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 28, 2016 with Rev. Dawn Remster officiating. Burial will conclude at the Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.Memorial contributions can be made to Muskingum Behavioral Health.
