Iris Elizabeth (Farson) Meeks Iris Elizabeth (Farson) Meeks was born on the farm in Sullivan County, near Winigan, Missouri, on December 4th, 1920 and entered her rest on October 24, 2016 at the age of 95. She was married to William (Billy) Thomas Meeks on December 25, 1943, in rural Mexico, Missouri by Evangelist Winford Lee. Iris was preceded in death by her husband Billy on January 9, 2006, her mother Bessie Florence (Jones) Farson in 1967, her father David Henry Farson in 1972, her brothers Lester who died as an infant and Edward Farson in 2014, and her sister Ava Donovan in 2015. Iris is survived by a sister-in-law Elva LaDora (Meeks) Holiday, of Macon, and two sons, Billy Gene Meeks and his wife Leota of Macon and Fred Dean Meeks and his wife Beverly of Topeka, Kansas. Also three grandchildren: Stacy Ann (Meeks) Zimmer and Doug of Claycomo, Missouri and Angela Christine (Meeks) Bass and Cory of Seneca, Kansas and Jamie Meeks of Ethel, Missouri and four great grandchildren: Aydan Riley Bass and Holden Thomas Bass of Seneca, Kansas and Madelyn Ann Zimmer and Tony Lee Zimmer of Claycomo, Missouri. Iris will be remembered as a teacher, wife, and loving mother. She started teaching school at Fairbanks and then People s both one room schools in rural Ethel, Missouri and taught school in Ethel, Bucklin, New Cambria, Bevier and completed her career at Marceline, Missouri in 1980. Iris was a faithful member of the White Oak church of Christ and was baptized in 1929. Iris never tired of serving the Lord. Billy and Iris made two trips to Israel and would enjoy attending church meetings all over the mid-west and for many years they attended the Mid-West Bible campout at Eminence, MO. In recent years Iris spent much leisure time reading her bible. Billy and Iris made other trips visiting England, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Greece, Belgium, Canada and Mexico. For several years they enjoyed spending their winters in Sun City, Arizona. Visitation will be at Hutton & McElwain funeral home, in Macon on Saturday October 29, 2016 at 10:00 AM with funeral following at 11:00 AM.
