IRWIN KARL RYANIrwin, beloved husband, brother, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, and friend passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina, SK, due to complications from Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was the fifth son of Stanley and Pauline Ryan, born on June 19, 1930 in Regina. Irwin grew up on the family farm in Wilcox, SK and attended the Yankee Ridge School. In his teenage years, Irwin worked on many farms in the area. From 1953 to 1958, he worked winters in Regina, Toronto, and Vancouver, then returned home in the spring to resume farming. Irwin farmed with his father for several years before taking over the family farm in 1960, with his wife, Evelyn (Lyn Cadrain). He and Lyn retired to Regina in 1994, but his love for the land kept him involved with the farm until his death. With his wife Lyn, Irwin was the proud father of Bruce, Roberta, and Bernard (Ben), whom he supported in a number of activities in their youth, as well as their university endeavors. He provided a lifetime of mentoring to his family and to others, passing on his strong beliefs, values, and work ethic. Irwin's true passions in life were his family, farming, faith, and community. He was an avid volunteer and served on numerous community initiatives and boards. Irwin was predeceased by, and now enjoying the company of his parents, Stanley and Pauline Ryan; and his brothers, Wayne, Gordon, and Leonard Ryan. He will be lovingly missed by his wife, Lyn Ryan (married 59 years); children, Bruce Ryan (Marianne) of Calgary, Roberta Walsh (Tim) of Regina, and Ben Ryan (Kim) of Regina; grandchildren, Timothy Walsh (Karie-Anne), Shawn Ryan (Cheryl), Kurtis Walsh, Stephanie Mitchell (Evan), Mitchel Ryan, and Kate Ryan; great- grandchildren, Mackenzie and Brooklynn Walsh, Luke and Isla Ryan, Emily, Jack, and Isabelle Mitchell; and siblings, Leona McDaniel of Vancouver, Doris Murphy of Vancouver, Norma Greaves of Saskatoon, Gary Ryan of Regina, and Murray Ryan of Melfort. Funeral Mass in Celebration of Irwin's Life will be held at Christ the King R.C. Parish, 3239 Garnet Street, Regina, SK on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Irwin may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at the Pasqua Hospital, 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK S4T 1A5.
