Ivan F. Cady , age 89, passed away on Tuesday, December 25, 2012 in Yuma, AZ. He was born on September 6, 1923 in Vancouver, WA to Charles and Vada Cady. He grew up in Bend, Oregon. Mr. Cady was graduated from Bend Senior High School in 1941. In 1942 during World War II, he enlisted in the Merchant Marine. He later attended Pacific University and was graduated in 1953 with a doctorate in optometry. He married Lois M. Ferguson, also from Bend, in June of 1945. The family resided for many years in Cottage Grove, Oregon where he practiced optometry, and raised three children. In 1967, the family moved to San Clemente, CA where he continued his career as an optometrist. He later moved to Corvallis, OR where he also had an optometric practice. He retired in 1992. He then moved to Yuma, AZ, although he spent his summers in Bend with his sister, Virginia Neff. Mr. Cady was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bend, OR and also attended the Foothills Southern Baptist Church in Yuma, AZ. At one time, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Shriners. Besides his church activities, he enjoyed the fellowship of many friends. He also enjoyed playing tennis, gardening, and going to potlucks. Mr. Cady is survived by his children Cathy Laird, Steve (Cindy) Cady, and Greg Cady. His is also survived by his grandchildren Jenna (Aric) Williamson, Melissa Cady, and Sean Cady. He is survived by two great grandchildren Samuel Williamson and Benjamin Williamson. He is also survived by his sister Patricia Craig. Mr. Cady was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Vada Cady, his brother Hal Cady and sister Virginia Neff. A memorial service will be held at Foothills Southern Baptist Church on Saturday, February 16 at 3 p.m. A memorial service will also be held in Bend, Oregon at the end of April.
