J. C. Park, 88, of Blackfoot, died on Oct. 14, 2016, at his home as a result of a fall. He was under he care of his family and Hands of Hope Hospice.J. C. was born on Aug. 18, 1928, in Hibbard, Idaho, to Gyneth Grace Jensen and Clarence J. Park. He was the oldest of three brothers born to this union. His mother died when he was four years old, and he was raised by his grandmother and aunts until his father remarried. He grew up in Hibbard, and graduated from Madison High School. He attended Ricks College, where he met his sweetheart, Norma Jean Nelson. They were married on June 7, 1949, in the Idaho Falls Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He and Norma had three children, Peggy, Pamela, and Kerry. During their married life, J.C. and Norma lived in Gooding,  Salmon, and Salt Lake City. They have lived in Blackfoot since 1959.J.C. worked in a variety of professions, from farming to sales to office management. He retired as a rural route mail carrier. He loved to golf, winning the Blackfoot City Championship in 1970. He also loved to fish. He tied his own flies, and built more than 50 fly rods for himself and friends. He made numerous lifelong friends through these hobbies. He was a voracious reader. However, his greatest love was his family, and he spent countless hours supporting his children and grandchildren in their many activities.He was a faithful member of his church, serving in many positions throughout his lifetime. One of his favorite callings was being a home teacher to many people who became very special to him.He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma, who passed away on Nov. 20, 2015; and his grandson, Erich Paul Case. Also preceding him were his parents; brothers, Gordon Park and Darrell Park; half-sister, Sharon Hartvigsen; and step-sisters, Berneice Adams and Marge Roylance.He is survived by his children, Peggy Park of Idaho Falls, Pamela and  Bill Case of Tracy, California, and Kerry and Ronna Park of Blackfoot. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Adam Park, Veronica and Kyle Hicks, Thomas and Caley Park, Tiffany Case, Maddi and Marshall Tapp, Marisa and Douglas Haycock, Steven and Shelby Park, and Emily Park, who is currently serving an LDS mission in Bolivia. He also has three beautiful little great-granddaughters, Cora and Gemma Hicks and Michelle Haycock.He is also survived by his stepbrother, Douglas McKenna of San Jose, California; his aunt, Maxine Jensen of Rexburg; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and brothers; and sisters-in-law, including Colleen and Don Apgood, Jean Nelson, DeVon and Sharon Nelson, Kent Nelson, Wayne and Sue Nelson, and Bonnie Park.There will be a graveside service at the Grove City Cemetery on Friday, Oct.  21, at 1 p.m. There will be a viewing held at the Hawker Funeral Home from from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to services. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.
