J Lee "Putt" Pruitt Abilene, TXJ Lee "Putt" Pruitt, 86, of Abilene passed away May 25, 2017, at Hendrick Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. There will be a memorial service at 11:00AM, Tuesday, May 30, 2017 in the chapel at Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street. Stan Allcorn and Dr. Jerry Poteet will officiate. J Lee was born on January 18, 1931, to Iverson and Cora Pruitt in Lubbock County. At a young age his family moved to Abilene where he spent all of his life. He attended Valley View Elementary School, North Junior High School, and graduated from Abilene High School. He met the love of his life, Sylvia Vassar, at the Super Dog stand where she worked. On January 6, 1952, they married at the home of Reverend Armstrong. This year they celebrated 65 years of marriage. As the patriarch of his family, he exemplified Christ and led by example. Nothing was more important than his family. Many memories were built spending time together at the home on Lake Brownwood. He was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served the Lord in various capacities, including Sunday School teacher and deacon. As a Master Electrician, he was the manager for Long Electric until he opened his own business, Lee Pruitt Electric, in 1978. J Lee was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and seven sisters. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia, and daughters: Paula Dickie and husband, Mike; Connie Clark and husband, Mike; and Drucilla Pruitt. He is also survived by grandchildren: Jennifer Brawley and husband Matt; Misty Cassle and husband BJ; Wesley Dickie and Charla Davis; Jennifer Kerley; and Jacob Clark. Great-grandchildren include Mason Brawley, James Cassle, Claire Cassle, Graycie Pearce, Emily Pearce, Kensie Bowen, and Ryleigh Bowen. He has one surviving brother, Rayburn Pruitt and wife, Lois; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and administrators of Hendrick Medical Center.
